Echah's Birthday
Twenty Five.
"Gadis-Gadis KL" having the time of their lives. Haha.
Birthdays are always a big deal.
But this time around we did the unthinkable. We sang in public.
Despite the fact that hardly any of us can actually hold a note.
But we pulled it off.. right girls?

Ayutthaya: Ancient Capital of Siam
Ayutthaya. The Unconquerable, literally. A name taken after the great Aryan City in the Ramakien, the Thai version of the classic Ramayana. It's amazing how many Asian cultures owe their cultural heritage to the Ramayana.
Yet what amazes me even more is these ancient sites and the stories they tell. By the Menam Chao Phraya "River of Kings", is Wat Arun, aptly named "Temple of the Dawn". Where they took refuge after the fall of Ayutthaya before moving to the new capital of Thonburi. The dawn of a new regime.

India's Northern Golden Triangle: Jaipur-Agra-Delhi
Namaste! I have always had a fascination with India, birthplace of the Ramayana. The epic tale of good versus evil. A land with so much history and culture. Always drawn to tales, myths and legends, my trip to Jaipur and Agra intrigued the history buff in me.
Jaipur. The Pink City. Dating back to 1727AD. Here, the 17th century Jantar Mantar Royal Observatory gave a glimpse of the fascinating science of astronomy. And the picturesque Amer Fort was simply breathtaking, a captivating blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture. But of course, no trip to India is complete without a visit to the majestic Taj Mahal.

London Stop-Over
The perks of working for a multinational oil giant. I decided to take an "around the world" air route, stopping over in London for a couple of days on my way back from Houston. Perfect timing. Catching up with old friends.
Britain. How different it seems after all those years spent in the States. It feels old and traditional. Not to mention the dull, gloomy overcast of a London spring. Never had I ever been so thankful I studied in the sunny winters of Colorado. But it was wonderful stepping back into time, walking amongst those ancient scholarly buildings of Oxford and Cambridge. I can imagine how such places inspired such great minds. Lewis Carroll. Tolkien. CS Lewis.

Teluk Nipah, Pangkor

2004. I greeted the new year in the company of my closest girlfriends. And two very gracious bodyguards. Haha. These are friends I have known since I was twelve. Same girls. Same laughter. Same crazy old things we always do. And here we are, a decade later.. pondering on life and the uncertain future. It's unsettling how scary life can be when you're 23, wondering when everything is going to fall into place. If only life had guarantees..
